The IOS Water Alliance are responsible for a leakage portfolio known as the ‘Pressure Release Valve’ (PRV) project. This project, a vital initiative across the region, ensures our customers continue to receive safe and clean running water.

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll act as the commercial conscious to the integrated delivery team. You’ll provide commercial support to both delivery management and on-site delivery teams.

You’ll embrace the outperformance mentality, ensuring that operations are carried out to control costs. In turn, maximising value and minimising future liabilities to maintain the required standard of quality and safety. In addition, you’ll develop your soft skills and understand the importance of an efficient and proactive commercial team in a dynamic and robust environment.

You will be assisting the programme area Estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided. These estimates will align to scope, making allowance for risks and opportunities. These include analysis and transfer of data to our Alliance Procurement system and Cost Base.

You’ll work closely with the Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Construction and Project teams in preparing Subcontracts and procurement strategies, ensuring they reflect agreed scope. You will produce accurate live forecasting, considering the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective work/cost breakdown structure. Ensuring actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations.

You will need to provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate and identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, highlight, confront and resolve variance to latest plans. Assisting the Quantity Surveyor in ensuring that all project team members (including site staff) understand the contractual arrangements. This will ensure we satisfy our Client & Partner organisation requirements.

Can you ensure accurate records are kept & maintained, so financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available?

Are you passionate about pursuing a career in a commercial based role, and have an awareness of NEC3 forms of contract?
