The role

An opportunity has arisen to join the commercial team of the TRU East Alliance, one of the most significant rail projects in the North of England. This position is based at the project hub at Gascoigne Wood, near Sherburn in Elmet (LS25 6JE) with travel across multiple sites between Leeds and York.

The mission of the TRU East Alliance is to transform the East of Leeds route allowing people to travel faster, more reliably and in greater comfort between the North’s great cities. Providing passengers with more choice, more seats and better facilities on a safer, cleaner, more environmentally friendly railway.

Working within the TRUe Alliance as a valued member of our project commercial team and wider project delivery team. The Transpennine Route Upgrade works East of Leeds are being delivered by the TRUe Alliance, with circa £1bn of works expected to be delivered throughout the portfolio, offering an exciting opportunity to grow and progress your career.

Key accountabilities

Key duties include:

  • Responsible for supporting the production and the submission of periodic Applications for Payment/ Invoices inclusive of entering these on to the company costing and reporting system and relevant project document management system.
  • Responsible for liaising with the alliance auditor to receive payment certification and entering these details into the company costing and reporting system including entering into Cashflows where required.
  • Assisting with raising, monitoring and uplifting Subcontract orders, and any other orders as required to support the Operations team on the company costing and reporting system.
  • Support the Commercial function with Subcontract Administration including but not limited to;
    • Initial drafting of Subcontract documentation
    • Review and Processing of Subcontract payments
    • Drafting and issuing of Payment/Pay Less Notices as required by legislation.
    • Updating of Cashflow in line with Certificates issued to Subcontractors
    • Administration of Subcontract Change Accounts and drafting of Instructions or Notices
    • Drafting and issuing of Subcontract Final Accounts
  • Administration of cash out of the business utilising the companies costing and reporting system and in line with payment performance monitoring requirements.
  • Support with the resolution of discrepancies / disallowed costs within the alliance auditors’ assessments and escalate issues where appropriate.

Skills & experience

Previous experience of working within a commercial environment, preferably within rail or construction industry. You will be educated to A level standard or equivalent with a flexible/proactive approach who shows initiative to support others.

Additionally, you will have the following experience/skill set:

  • Proficient in MS office applications (Microsoft Word & Excel)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and competing priorities
  • Be able to maintain good relationships with experienced managers and leaders.
  • Excellent communication, numeracy & literacy skills.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Location

Sherburn in Elmet with travel to multiple sites between Leeds and York.
