Quantity Surveyor - Yorkshire

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Quantity Surveyor to join our Highways business division as the result of a recent contract award for maintenance works on Area 12. Amey have been selected as the successful main contractor to deliver highways maintenance and improvement services across the Area 12 region alongside National Highways.

Our ‘One Team’ approach with National Highways was implemented in June 2021, continuing for 8 years with a total value of £180m under an NEC4 contract. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our growing business in Yorkshire & Humberside.

You will be based at the office in West Cowick (near Leeds, off M62) and the working model is 3 days office based and 2 days at home.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week.

You Will Be Responsible For

As a Quantity Surveyor at Amey you will be responsible for the end to end commercial process for the Area 12 contract.

  • Mentor and develop Assistant Quantity Surveyors
  • Subcontract procurement – including the drafting of Subcontracts
  • Manage a package of subcontractors – to include placing orders, assessing applications, preparing payment notices, monthly liabilities and accruals
  • Preparing monthly CVR’s for internal meetings
  • Valuing work instructions in clients system, Confirm
  • Pricing scheme works
  • Valuing works based on a schedule of rates
  • Manage and maintain our relationship with National Highways and subcontractors
  • Notifying notification of compensation events, producing and submission of quotations through CEMAR
  • Submission of early warnings through CEMAR
  • Input into budgets, forecasting and monthly reconciliations.

We want to hear from you if you have any of the below skills:

  • Quantity Surveying degree/qualification
  • Quantity Surveying experience
  • Experience of using a schedule of rates
  • Background in civils or construction environments (desirable)
  • Strong IT skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to time-manage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Sound knowledge of NEC contracts and MMHW
