Hire Resolve is excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious Candidate Quantity Surveyor to join our client's team in Durban.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will engage in a variety of duties related to both consultancy and contractor roles in quantity surveying and project management. You are expected to take a proactive approach in all aspects of your work while seeking guidance from senior team members. Your responsibilities will include performing quantity surveying functions that align with SACQSP requirements for candidate quantity surveyors within a consultancy practice, as you work toward professional registration.
Responsibilities

Cost Preparation: Develop cost feasibility studies, approximate estimates, cost plans, Bills of Quantities, specifications, and schedules of rates in line with relevant standards.

Project Support: Assist senior team members in the day-to-day management and delivery of projects.

Procurement Administration: Prepare and manage procurement advice, tenders, and tender reviews.

Quality Assurance: Adhere to the company’s quality assurance processes on all projects.

Contract Documentation: Prepare and manage various contract forms for both consultants and contractors.

Standardization: Ensure the use of standard documentation when presenting external information.

Valuations and Claims: Prepare and manage interim valuations, contractors’ claims, and final account settlements.

Site Management: Conduct site visits and inspections, and manage contractors on-site.

Project Variety: Work across multiple projects as applicable.

Contract Variations: Assist in preparing contract variations for review by senior staff.

Training: Engage in relevant training as required by the organization.

Employer’s Agent Support: Assist senior staff in their roles as Employer’s Agent/Contract Administrator.

Financial Reviews: Aid in the preparation of financial reviews according to senior staff requirements.

Cost Database Management: Prepare and update standard cost databases and profiles.

Policy Adherence: Perform all duties in line with the company’s policies and any updates provided to employees.

Instruction Compliance: Execute instructions issued by senior staff and directors.
Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Proficiency in relevant software packages: WINQS, MS Word, and Excel.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience is advantageous.
- Experience in Commercial and Petrochemical industries
- Strong understanding of quantity surveying principles and the built environment.
- Team player with a proactive attitude
