Accountable for the Project’s Commercial function including Prime Contract, Subcontract Management and Procurement. The Commercial Manager will be responsible to protect the Company from commercial risk on the Project (both upstream and downstream) and to oversee all procurement activities, ensuring the acquisition of materials, equipment, and services is efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with project requirements.

The Commercial Manager will manage, control and be accountable for the commercial functions of procurement, subcontract administration and payment, contractual claims and contractual management (strategy advice, advancement of claims and defense of claims), including commercial reporting to the Executive Committee and the Project Management Team.

• Management and Supervision of contract and commercial functions.
• Development and implementation of commercial and contractual management procedures.
• Risk identification and mitigation of all commercial risks.
• Subcontract procurement, administration and claims management. Review and approve contract terms and conditions to mitigate risks and protect company interests.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project goals and company objectives.
• Analyze market trends and develop strategies to secure the best value for materials and services.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual agreements related to federal, and provincial laws, particularly applicable Occupational Health & Safety Acts/Construction Safety Act regulations and environmental requirements
• Commercial and contractual advice to Executives and Project Team.
• Commercial reporting and analysis of financial position of the project.
• Prepare and present reports on Commercial activities and/or contractual issues, including but not limited to Claim/Change reporting.
• Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, vendor performance, and cost savings/overruns to senior management.

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related Construction field, and/or corresponding professional membership.
• Proven experience of at least 10 years in the Construction Industry (including major civil international projects)
• Experience in managing commercial/procurement teams in international projects
• D&B, PPP and/or DBF experience is essential. JV experience is desirable
• Proficient in English Language
• Thorough knowledge of contract language and legal requirements Excellent people and leadership skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
