Commercial Manager - Ontario

Position Overview

The Commercial Manager leads full commercial oversight of the project including contracts, financial exposure, change management, claims/disputes, and risk management. Provides strategic commercial guidance to senior project leadership.

District Overview

Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. The serve the construction and mining industries and operates in Eastern Canada.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial strategy and ensure compliance with DB/P3 contract obligations and procedures.
• Oversee change management, claims preparation, payment mechanisms, performance provisions, and commercial reporting.
• Manage large subcontract portfolios, commercial negotiations, and risk mitigation plans.
• Develop frameworks for variations, disputes, and contractual correspondence; ensure timely notices and records.
• Interface with legal teams, executive leadership, the client, and project partners; prepare high‑level summaries and forecasts.

Qualifications

• 10+ years commercial management experience on major infrastructure or transit projects (LRT preferred).
• Proven negotiation skills on high‑value subcontracts; strong contract interpretation and financial acumen.
• Deep understanding of claims principles, construction law concepts, and dispute resolution processes.
• Familiarity with common construction systems (e.g., SharePoint, Aconex/Unifier, P6, Bluebeam, Power BI) is considered an asset.
