Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting the commercial success of infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will bring proven expertise in project controls, commercial strategy, and contract management to ensure financial performance, risk mitigation, and successful delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops and supports commercial strategies for infrastructure programs, aligning with project delivery models and client objectives.
  • Assists in negotiations with clients, partners, and subcontractors in coordination with project leadership.
  • Liaises with project controls to affect cost, schedule, change, and risk management.
  • Reviews construction contracts and advises on commercial implications, risk exposures, and compliance.
  • Reviews project materials and deliverables to ensure estimates are aligned with industry best practices and are properly benchmarked.
  • Prepares and manages project budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics, including monthly project performance reports
  • Conducts variance analysis to support corrective action planning and continuous improvement.
  • Drafts, reviews, and maintains project procedures and commercial documentation.
  • Manage and review cost-related submissions from contractors, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project scope, deliverables, and contract terms
  • Ensures accurate preparation of project schedules, with knowledge of critical path method (CPM) and resource loading.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders across finance, legal, procurement, and technical disciplines to support project governance.
  • Lead and support change management, value engineering activities, and cost‑impact assessments
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders to foster collaboration.
  • Supports talent development by mentoring junior staff and contributing to team growth.
  • Participates in commercial risk assessments and ensures contractual risks are managed appropriately throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contributes to project pursuits, RFQ/RFP responses, and bid preparations for alternative delivery projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or a related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in project controls, commercial management, or contract administration in an AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) environment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable software tools such as Primavera P6, Oracle, or equivalent cost/schedule management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial/project controls within infrastructure programs.
  • PEng, PMP or MBA are assets
  • Experience in alternative delivery models (e.g., P3, DBFOM, Progressive Design-Build).
