Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its Building Division in Port Elizabeth. This opportunity is suited to a commercially astute construction professional with strong project experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex quantity surveying functions on large-scale projects.
Requirements:
- 7–10 years' industry experience.
- Education: BSc Quantity Surveying or BTech Quantity Surveying.
- Proven exposure to projects exceeding R100 million.
- Experience within construction or a professional quantity surveying environment.
- Strong understanding of construction processes and commercial procedures.
- Working knowledge of JBCC, NEC, FIDIC, and MBSA contracts.
- Proficiency in CCS (Candy) and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel or work away from home based on project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing quantity surveying activities across large building projects.
- Measuring work from drawings and preparing detailed take-offs.
- Preparing subcontractor orders and monthly valuations.
- Handling subcontractor and supplier payment processes.
- Managing subcontractor claims, adjudications, and appointments.
- Pricing and submitting variations.
- Maintaining accurate project budgets, cash flows, and cost reports.
- Monitoring commercial performance and identifying cost implications.
- Engaging with specialist consultants and project stakeholders.
- Applying appropriate measurement standards and contract requirements
