Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Solar Industry)
Location: South Africa
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor with specialized knowledge and experience in the solar industry to join our client's team in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing and controlling costs within solar projects, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit accurate cost estimates for solar projects
- Analyze project specifications and develop cost-effective solutions
- Work as part of a team to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines
- Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure cost control measures are implemented
- Conduct detailed cost analysis and benchmarking to identify areas for cost savings
- Prepare regular progress reports and financial forecasts for senior management
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure best prices and terms
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, with specific experience in the solar industry
- Proven track record of successfully managing costs within solar projects
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in budgeting and cost control software like CCS Candy
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and MS Projects
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Professional certification or registration as a Quantity Surveyor is preferred
