A look into the role: 


 


Henderson Group Property are award-winning specialists in the acquisition and development of retail outlets and have a proven track record in developing state-of-the-art sites. The team are an in-house collective of project managers, architects, engineers, consultants, and technicians and are focused on delivering best in class, sustainable projects. We delivered over 300 projects over the past year, ranging in scale and complexity, and with values between £50k to £3m. 



This position will be suited to a candidate with strong relevant experience from a commercially focused background in construction management. This role is based in Northern Ireland and will not usually require travel outside of this region. 


  


As Quantity Surveyor you will: 


 




  • Assist the Property team in delivering the optimum budget for all developments, modernisations, and acquisition of new sites and stores. 






  • Take ownership for establishing and maintaining a set of clearly defined set of metrics to drive consistency of cost, including: 






  • Produce Capex Investment budgets and appraisal papers and provide reporting to management on budget analysis. 






  • Commercially manage projects from inception through to on-site, working with the design teams and project managers to ensure the project is developed in line with the capital investment. 






  • Support the property leadership team with reporting and preparing documentation for all projects where required. 






  • Prepare cost plans and budgets for review processes, including associated administration in preparation for project review meetings. 






  • Prepare tender documentation, contracts & orders for contractors and suppliers. 






  • Develop people through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring more junior members of the commercial team.  






  • Effectively manage relationships with various stakeholders and suppliers both internally and externally, influencing constructively as required. 






  • Address any challenges/ problems arising to ensure that property projects are delivered to ensure required standards are met in terms of quality, timelines & budgets.  




 


 


Skills for Success 

  


Joining us as Quantity Surveyor the minimum criteria you’ll need is: 


  




  • GCSE Level in English and Maths Level C or higher (or equivalent). 






  • 3rd level qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management. 






  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working within a property development/ commercial construction role within the UK construction market. 






  • Experience of live data construction costs and estimating costs of different trades and construction methods within the UK construction market 






  • Active knowledge of the UK building regulations, materials, specifications and construction methodologies of the UK construction market. 






  • Experience of producing budget cost plans as various stages of the construction process. 






  • Proficiency in using MS Office packages and enhanced experience of AutoCAD. 






  • Current UK driving license and ability to travel throughout Northern Ireland

It is Desirable if you had: 


 




  • Experience of working in a property development or retail environment. 






  • A working knowledge of Convenience Retail. 






  • Experience in liaising with finance teams and providing relevant information for accounting reports.

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am-4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday. Hybrid working arrangement available.
