Job Summary:
The Lead Estimator / Quantity Surveyor is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects and ensuring effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and regulations, he/she should be able to derive estimation based on the drawing.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating Duties:
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
Perform quantity take-offs and pricing using estimating software and historical data.
Identify potential cost risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure estimate accuracy.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Prepare and present tender submissions, budgets, and cost plans to clients or senior management.
Quantity Surveying Duties:
Prepare and manage project budgets, valuations, and cost reports.
Monitor and control project expenditures and cash flow.
Negotiate contracts and variations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Administer contract terms and ensure compliance.
Conduct value engineering and cost-saving strategies.
Provide post-contract support, including claims management and final account settlement.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum 6+ years of experience in estimating and/or quantity surveying, preferably in [sector – e.g., commercial, infrastructure, residential].
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Leadership experience with ability to manage teams and mentor junior staff.
Thorough knowledge of construction materials, methods, and legal regulations.
