Surveyor Apprentice

join their team in Cornwall.

The Company
Our client is a leading
contracting company for telecommunications firms. All of their team members
have more than 10 years of experience in fibre splicing, fibre cabling, and
civil works. They have completed major projects for some of the largest
companies in the telecommunications industry. Their services include fibre
cabling projects, wide area network (WAN) solutions, fibre optic splicing, LAN
installation, and more. They strive to provide customers with fast, reliable,
and cost-effective solutions for their projects. With an experienced staff and
a commitment to customer satisfaction, our client is setting the standard in
the telecommunications contracting industry.
The Position
Job Title: | Quantity Surveyor Junior – Apprenticeship |

Course: | Level 4 Data Analyst |
Apprenticeship
Duration: | 16 months + 3 months for EPA |
Location: | Cornwall PL26 |
Working Hours: | Monday – Friday
8am – 5pm |
Salary: | £20,000 - £25,000 pa starting salary |
Role and Responsibilities
· Review Contract Data:
· Analyse and interpret contract documents
to ensure compliance with project requirements.
· Identify and address any discrepancies
or issues within the contract.
· Review Application Data:
· Examine application data for accuracy
and completeness.
· Ensure all necessary documentation is
included and correctly formatted.
· Submit Measurements and Associated Evidence:
· Accurately measure and record quantities
of materials and work completed.
· Prepare and submit detailed reports and
evidence to support applications for payment.
· Support the Civils and Fibre Division:
· Collaborate with the civils and fibre
teams to ensure smooth project execution.
· Provide commercial and contractual
support to the project teams.
· High Range of Excel Skills:
· Utilise advanced Excel functions to
analyse data, create reports, and manage project budgets.
· Develop and maintain complex
spreadsheets for tracking project progress and costs.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Cost Control and Management:
§ Monitor project costs and expenditures
to ensure they remain within budget.
§ Identify cost-saving opportunities and
implement measures to reduce expenses.
· Risk Management:
§ Assess potential risks and develop
strategies to mitigate them.
§ Maintain awareness of health and safety
regulations and ensure compliance.
· Communication and Reporting:
§ Prepare and present detailed progress
reports to stakeholders.
§ Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and
suppliers to ensure effective communication.
· Tender and Contract Preparation:
§ Assist in the preparation of tender
documents and contracts.
§ Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and
supplier quotes.
Desired Qualities, Skills, and Knowledge
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
in reviewing documents and data.
· High proficiency in Microsoft Excel,
including advanced functions.
· Excellent communication and
collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external stakeholders.
· Experience in cost management, risk
assessment, and contract preparation.
· Ability to manage time effectively and
handle multiple tasks.
· Knowledge of health and safety
regulations.
· Strong problem-solving skills and
initiative.
