Location: Scotland Central Belt across Glasgow and Edinburgh

What could your day look like?

As an Industrial Placement Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to assist in the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes.


You will:
•    Participate in creating a safe working environment.
•    Use the latest Oracle software tools to support accurate reporting of costs and value to the business unit. 
•    Assist in the interpretation and critical evaluation of expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems. 
•    Be involved in the procurement of Subcontract partners including preparation of bid enquiry documentation and critical evaluation of bids.
•    Draft Subcontract documentation.
•    Apply the principles of ‘Doing the right thing’ in maximising value and profit.
•    Support the administration of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and change management.
•    Assist in the production and issue of commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract and the law. 
•    Assist in the management of change in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations and the maintenance of detailed schedules of value.
•    Provide information to the Commercial team to assist in the production of monthly payment applications to the Client.
•    Liaise with operational and engineering staff to maintain site records.
•    Collate and calculate information required to assist the Commercial team in the production and maintenance of a detailed ‘cost to complete’ including schedules of Subcontractor ‘liabilities’.
 

As part of the industrial placement programme you will be expected to work in and around the location advertised, with the possibility for expanding travel to other projects and locations in the future. This may include staying away from home.

Please note that this position is a fixed term contact.
