Construction and Technical Recruitment (CTR) is working with an established and well-regarded construction business operating in the Queenstown-Wānaka region is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager to join their team. This is a key senior role within the business, offering a genuine mix of hands-on delivery and commercial leadership.
 
The position combines approximately 40% quantity surveying and 60% project management, and will see you involved from early-stage estimating through to project completion. You will work across a portfolio of high-quality residential builds and selected light commercial projects, contributing directly to project outcomes and the overall performance of the business.
The Role
 
This role is suited to a well-rounded construction professional who is comfortable managing both numbers and people. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing accurate estimates, cost plans and project budgets
  • Leading procurement activities, including trade tendering, negotiation and contractor sign-up
  • Managing contracts, variations, claims and final accounts
  • Overseeing project delivery, programming and coordination with site teams
  • Monitoring costs, reporting on financial performance and identifying risks and opportunities
  • Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and clients
  • Supporting site teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard
You will be trusted to take ownership of your projects while working closely with senior management and construction teams.
About You
 
You will be a commercially astute construction professional who enjoys being involved across the full project lifecycle. You will bring:
  • 6-10 years' experience in quantity surveying and/or project management roles
  • Strong experience delivering residential construction projects (light commercial experience advantageous)
  • Proven capability in estimating, procurement and contract administration
  • A solid understanding of construction methodologies and cost drivers
  • The confidence to engage with subcontractors, consultants and clients at a senior level
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
New Zealand construction experience is essential.
