INTRODUCTION:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Quantity Surveyor to support our project development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating cost databases, ensuring costing calculators are current, and verifying that selected hardware meets quality and functional standards. This role is integral to our project development process, particularly for solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The position is based in Bellville.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Maintain and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions by negotiating with multiple suppliers.


• Ensure costing calculators are accurate and up to date for project proposals.


• Verify that selected hardware meets quality standards and functional requirements.


• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for solar and hybrid energy systems.


• Collaborate with the project development team to optimize cost strategies.


• Review cost-related data regularly and make recommendations for improvements.


• Prepare and present cost analysis reports to support business development.


• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in solar and BESS technologies.


• Set up bill of quantities and compile and manage construction contracts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, or a related field.


• Two to three years of professional experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction or photovoltaic (PV) industry.


• Strong knowledge of cost estimation techniques and tools.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.


• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.


• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.


• Ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.


• Inclination towards renewable energy technologies, including solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).


• Ability to engage with suppliers and clients, providing clear explanations of technical concepts and building strong professional relationships.


• Beneficial to have experience with construction contracts such as FIDIC, JBCC, and NEC.


• Own transport and driver's license essential
