Red Ember Recruitment are seeking to appoint a experienced Quantity Surveyors to join a professional team in Cape Town. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in private sector developments, with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience working at a professional quantity surveying firm. The role involves delivering comprehensive cost management services on commercial and mixed-use construction contracts from inception to final account.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, cost plans, and feasibility studies.
Manage tender processes including BOQ preparation, evaluation, and adjudication.
Administer construction contracts (e.g., JBCC, FIDIC), including valuations and progress payments.
Perform cost control and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
Conduct site inspections and attend project meetings with clients, contractors, and consultants.
Compile monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
Prepare and agree final accounts with contractors.
Provide contractual and procurement advice to clients.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a professional quantity surveying environment.
Proven track record on commercial and mixed-use development projects in the private sector.
BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying from a recognized institution
SACQSP registration (PrQS) is preferable.
Proficient in QS software such as WinQS, BuildSmart, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of local construction contracts and procurement processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently or as part of a team.
