Our client is a civil engineering contractor involved in infrastructure construction projects, with a focus on effective project delivery, commercial management and cost control.
They are currently seeking an experienced Road Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Johannesburg. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the commercial and contractual administration of major civil infrastructure projects, ensuring accurate valuations, effective subcontractor management, cost control and the recovery of all variations and additional works.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience within the civil engineering construction sector

Education: BSc/ BTech in Quantity Surveying
- At least 5 years’ site-based experience with a large contractor
- Experience in roads, bridges, earthworks, railway or multidisciplinary infrastructure projects Experience on internationally funded infrastructure projects in other African countries will be advantageous
- SACQSP Candidate or Professional registration will be highly advantageous
- Advanced proficiency in CCS Candy and BuildSmart is advantageous
- Working knowledge of FIDIC Red Book and GCC 2015 contract conditions
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit monthly valuations, progress claims and interim payment certificates
- Monitor project costs against budgets and allowable targets, including Actual vs. Allowable cost reporting
- Compile cost reports and track project financial performance and cash flow
- Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments and final accounts
- Measure completed works accurately and maintain comprehensive supporting documentation
- Identify, assess and submit variation claims and early warning notices to ensure additional work is recovered
