Our Mace consultancy pharmaceutical and life sciences sector set out to make a difference in the industry. Established in 2013, the team has grown in size and scope with employees based in the UK, Europe and America, with wider coverage throughout the globe.

We provide an end-to-end consultancy service for some of the most notable and innovative life science projects, including manufacturing facilities for several manufacturing market leaders. We leverage the latest innovation, regional expertise and global best practice to continuously improve and advance infrastructure delivery, advising on critical public services and works of cultural importance; driving growth and delivering some of the world's most technically complex and inspiring programmes of work. 

The project:

At Mace we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about cost and commercial management. Our German region is looking to recruit a senior cost & commercial manager with pharmaceutical & life sciences sector experience who can provide full cycle cost management services for ongoing commissions throughout the country. We have an agile working policy allowing our employees to be primarily based from home with visits to client offices/projects throughout the country. Our office is based in Frankfurt, where the team will meet for ad hoc meetings as and when necessary.

You’ll need to have\: 

·       Previous experience in a cost consultancy practice in a similar role.

·       Previous experience working with pharmaceutical and life science clients

·       JCT form of contract experience essential with some knowledge of NEC.

·       Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.

·       Previous experience of managing people and risk management.

·       Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.

·       Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on contract administration.

·       Knowledge of value engineering and life cycle costing.

·       Strong understanding of industry best practice.

·       Understanding of hot topic issues such as sustainability, social value, carbon reduction impacting public sector.

·       Capex V Opex cost analysis/advice.

·       A degree in quantity surveying/cost management or equivalent.

You’ll also have:

·       Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent).

·       Experience in business development.

·       Developed commercial and financial acumen.

·       Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.

·       Experience leading parts of projects within large, diverse teams.

·       Developing experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.

·       Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.

·       Fluent in German (desirable not essential).
