Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor - Dublin to work with our Energy and Industry team on our ESB overhead lines framework.

 

Murphy is working with the ESB on the Overhead Line Network which is undergoing significant refurbishment and capacity upgrades for the increased renewable generation and customer demand in Ireland. To help delivery this long-term Framework we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the established team and be part of the delivery of the biggest investment to date by ESB.

 

What you will be doing:

  • To provide assistance to the Managing QS, and support on all commercial issues within the Project
  • Encourage and develop a culture of commercial awareness within the team
  • Delegation of appropriate work to junior staff, whilst maintaining accountability
  • Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
  • Preparation of Valuations/Application for payment with full supporting documentation in accordance with the contract
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
  •  Challenge & manage in cost control / cost mitigation
  • Ensure the correct site records are maintained.
  • Assist with preparation of the Cost to Complete and Risk analysis Register for the projects(s)
  • Preparation of change events, extension of time claims, final accounts etc
  • Pricing projects that form part of the Framework using Schedule of Rates and first principles.
  • Helping to maximise the cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans

 

Who we are looking for:

  • Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying/Construction Economics (SCSI Accredited)
  • Chartered or on route to being a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (SCSI / CICES) or equivalent
  • Full driving license.
  • Commercially astute. Excellent knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement
  • 5+ years Experience.
  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
  • Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
  • Experience in project controls, contract administration, cost management, risk identification and analysis and procurement
  • Electricity Distribution (LV/MV/HV) and Transmission, & substation construction experience would be a distinct advantage
