Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to report to a Commercial Manager across all the company's disciplines. You will be responsible for the individual project leads for day to day activities and workload including support and development of four trainees within the team.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor working predominantly on non core workstream.
The role is focused on providing value for money while adhering to strict regulations which govern every aspect of the water and drainage industry.
You will be a good communicator and possess excellent numeracy skills to handle the financial and mathematical demands of the role. Given the demands of the drainage world and its frequent challenges, you will be able to demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving and an ability to negotiate across the various levels.
Location: Bamber Bridge, Lancashire (+ hybrid working potential)
Hours: Monday to Friday – 42.5 Hours per week, 8am-4.30pm
Salary: Circa £60,000 per annum

Sapphire Utility Solutions are looking for a Senior Lead Quantity Surveyor in our Commercial department based at our head office. Your role will be to Support Commercial best practice to maximise value and minimise risk and cost for both Sapphire and our customers. Accurately value works undertaken and where necessary provide records to substantiate cost, ensure change control process is managed effectively in both Main and Subcontract. Manage client relationships at contract level.
We are looking for a qualified candidate with Civils experience from the utilities sector. Ideally a candidate who has led a team and worked at senior level. Management experience would be advantageous.
Key Accountabilities
Outcomes to be delivered
· Contractual knowledge to communicate with relevant parties ensure understanding the terms of project/contract.
· Work efficiently and calmly to tight deadlines or other stress factors as they arise.
· Ensure maximum recovery of all contractual entitlements.
· Implement commercial processes to ensure contractual entitlements are realised.
Key Responsibilities
· Support Operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects
· Ensuring proper contractual administration of contract/project assigned, including value and cost control, and maintenance of contemporaneous records
· Accurately value works undertaken and where necessary provide records to substantiate cost to allow prompt issue of Application for payment/invoice in line with contractual timescales
· Ensure change control process is managed effectively, including production of Early Warnings/Variations, maximizing entitlement
· Preparation of financial statements in respect to projects/contracts assigned, working with operational teams to confirm understanding of financial position, proactively instilling commercial awareness throughout the wider business.
· Support development of individuals within the commercial team.
· Accepts extra duties as situations arise.
· Management of Subcontract Accounts
· Able to travel and spend occasional nights away
Training & Qualifications
· HNC in Quantity Surveying or similar
· Undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying or similar advantageous
Knowledge & Experience
· Minimum5 years’ experience in utilities or civils industry desirable
· Experience in QS role
Skills
· Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
· Strong commercial and financial acumen
· Strong knowledge of contracts
· Strong desire to maintain client relationships whilst not compromising contractual entitlement
· Strong communication and inter personal skills
