What is the role?


We are now looking to recruit a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join a busy Commercial Team. This role reports to Senior Quantity Surveyor.


The purpose of the role is to be responsible for supporting Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors in their commercial management duties.


The role will include:



  • Undertaking administrative duties to support the team

  • Raising pre-agreed orders

  • Reviewing subcontractor matrices

  • Managing the simpler duties such as invoice processing, booking in subcontractors and payless notices.

  • Ensure weekly and monthly payments are processed efficiently, any disputed items are to be highlighted to senior surveyor.

  • To help produce valuations with the senior surveyor.

  • Utilise the Persimmon Group COINS system to help set up new sites and establish budget, predicting site profitability for financial planning verification

  • Liaison with other departments on time to ensure sites run efficiently (Construction, Sales, Customer Care, Accounts)

  • Comply with responsibilities as defined in the Group’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the team to promote safety in the way we build projects

  • Visiting construction sites alongside senior surveyor to help with stock control and monitor build progress.


What experience, qualifications and skills are we looking for?



  • Previous construction surveying related experience would be desirable

  • Full UK driving license is advantageous

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Package, including Excel and Word
