Assistant Quantity Surveyor - all the responsibilities we’ll trust you with:

  • You’ll assist with the preparation of Subcontractor and material enquiries and procurement process in general. Including sending out enquiries, tracking responses, reviewing quotes and preparing tender reports for review by internal project team and client team.
  • You’ll assist with assembly of subcontract orders including completion of subcontract documents, obtaining insurance information, agreeing attendances on packages along with all other relevant documentation.
  • You’ll assist with management of subcontractor accounts once orders are placed including remeasurement of works carried out, tracking and recording variations and expenditure of provisional sums.
  • You’ll keep a tight control of potentially high numbers of variations on a large project, assisting site managers and contracts manager in recording all variations, pricing them and accurately recording their effect on final accounts.
  • You’ll review and assess subcontractor applications for payment, production and issue of payment notices, pay less notices and assist with payment process through company accounting system.
  • You’ll track and record status of CDP packages, Collateral Warranties, CVI’s and other project related information for use in reporting by project commercial team.

Where you’ll be based

You'll join our Blandford Division, where we undertake projects valued between £1m and £15m. Specialising in Grade II Listed properties, refurbishments and contemporary new builds, each project requires meticulous management and attention to detail.

Location: Andover

The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

  • You’ll have HNC in Construction or relevant Degree level qualification
  • You’ll have detailed knowledge private residential building contracting.
  • You’ll have awareness of property taxation matters and contractual law
  • You’ll have a good technical understanding of traditional and modern building methods and products associated with refurbishment and new build projects of both traditional and contemporary design in the prime and super prime residential sector.
  • You’ll have to be able to write clear and precise communications which might include detailed and complex figures, calculations and specific building information.
  • You’ll have strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn construction management IT packages.
