Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Semperian Group are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor based in Cheltenham, on a permanent basis, full time basis. We will also consider candidates interested in temporary or fixed term opporutunities.   Whilst the role is based in Cheltenham, occasional travel to other locations may be necessary.


This role is to assist the Commercial Manager in managing Lifecycle Replacement and Variation works for Semperian clients. 


Assistant Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities

  • Support the commercial delivery of lifecycle and variation projects across the Semperian portfolio and external client contracts.
  • Assist in project feasibility assessments, scope development, tender documentation, and procurement activities to achieve best value outcomes.
  • Administer contracts, valuations, and variations, ensuring accurate records and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor project costs, provide commercial reporting, and support financial management for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and project stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by maintaining project documentation, sharing lessons learned, and supporting auditing and quality processes.


Assistant Quantity Surveyor Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline, with demonstratable experience in a quantity surveying role.
  • Working towards, or committed to achieving, a professional qualification such as MRICS, MCIOB, MAPM, or MCIBSE.
  • Experienced in refurbishment and fit-out projects, with a sound understanding of JCT contracts, construction methods, Building Regulations, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliver work to agreed deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant IT systems, with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • This role requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain Government Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV) clearance. Eligibility for eDV clearance is determined by the relevant Government vetting authority and sponsoring organisation.
