Mekanika is a leading operator in the Building and Engineering Services Industry, specialising in mechanical and electrical contracting, BMS, ELVs, HVAC solutions, lifts and escalators, industrial products and facilities management.
This position calls for a meticulous person, who is self-motivated and able to work closely with Senior Management. The candidate must be highly professional, self-manageable with a proactive approach.
The selected candidate will essentially:
- Take lead in the preparation of estimates, with an eye to detail in contracts, estimates and budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation required for the preparation of tenders;
- Forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project;
- Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly;
- Track the services of contractors and/or subcontractors who work on the construction and execution of the project;
- Prepare contracts for outsourcing, sub-contractors as required in line with the main contract;
- Measure and value the work done on site;
- Prepare, follow-up and negotiate the interim and final payment applications with the aim of achieving certification;
- Organise and manage the compilation and consolidation of the bill of quantities and payment applications;
- Certify works done and payment applications of subcontractors;
- Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers;
- Prepare monthly financial reports and projects’ analysis;
- Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings, carrying out on-site surveys as required;
- Provide commercial support to the Departmental Managers.
The selected candidate will preferably:
- Be a specialist in cost management/quantity surveying;
- Have experience working within the construction and engineering industry;
- Be computer conversant in the use of Microsoft applications;
- Be proficient in the use of ACAD software and understand design drawings;
- Be proficient in formulating and issuing payment applications;
- Possess excellent organizational and communication skills;
- Be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision;
- Have strong mathematical knowledge;
- Possess excellent analytical thinking skills with an attention to detail.
- Possess a good understanding of engineering science and technology.
