Salary: £57,000 + £550 P/M Car Allowance + 20% Annual Bonus

Location: Home based with UK Travel when required

What you'll be doing:

  • In liaison with the business sector bidding teams and Head of Procurement plan a strategy for procurement, identify suitable supply chain, develop sourcing plans, engage and implement strategy for individual bids.

  • Develop supply chain engagement strategies and align our supply chain in support of our customer needs and aspirations.

  • In consultation with the bid teams, prepare detailed bid documents for issue to the supply chain, review and analyse supplier proposals.

  • Work with suppliers and negotiate to obtain competitive cost combined with security of supply, considering quality, whole life costing and risk profile.

  • Prepare documented recommendations on supplier selection and submit to estimating, operational and commercial teams for approval.

  • Support the Estimating team to carry out accurate "should cost" modelling in anticipation of major bids from suppliers focussing on the "big picture" of the major cost elements and cost drivers which determine the majority of our costs and profitability on end-customer contracts. Use our supply chain to actively support us, enabling us to win new business and deliver customer contract successfully and profitably.

  • Manage bid specific supplier evaluation and approval process.

  • Ensure timely production of relevant approval and governance documentation (Annex 8)

  • Identify and report on project procurement cost saving opportunities.

  • Implementing and working within the Amey Corporate Procurement processes, managing the interfaces with the business and other functions.

  • Embed within the supply chain our Amey Values, culture, target zero, diversity, community and sustainability policy and strategies

  • Support the bidding teams with sound procurement advice and support.

  • Developing and implementing arrangements for increasing the awareness and competence of staff in Procurement & supply chain management best practices.


 

What we're looking for:

  • A thorough understanding of tendering and procurement process.

  • Highly developed collaboration skills 

  • Management of risk experience

  • Experience with managing large value complex bids

  • Knowledge of working within the defence sector
