Introduction

The junior cost engineer role will be based on site to monitor, measure and report to the Senior Cost Engineer on actual progress on site, management of sub-contract works progress and doing regular on site measures. 


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Establish cost control methods with the Cost Control Manager.

  • Collaborate with Senior Cost Controller to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects and determine industry/company best practices.

  • Liaise with the client's QS representative, subcontractors, suppliers, prepare and agree value variations.

  • Ensure that the preparation of valuation and issue of interim certificates enable punctual payment.

  • Analyse issued for construction drawings, determine the correctness of quantities and assessing project progress through on site measurements, identifying any potential cost variations, costs of materials required and accurate cost tracking and reporting.

  • Monitor changes in drawings or construction progress, updating budgets accordingly.

  • Monitor and update contract turnover and cash flow forecasts as required.

  • Cross-check material deliveries against site measurements.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Work closely with Project Team to evaluate measured progress and determine earned value for units under their control.

  • Identify all committed costs and make the necessary accruals/provisions.

  • Assist Senior Cost Engineer to reconcile actuals costs vs allowable.

  • Compile final account for subcontractors and major suppliers.

  • Analyse and report on variances against programme completion and forecast costs to completion.

  • Comply with all internal company policies, procedures and standards


 


Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in Quantity Surveying 

  • A driver’s license with own reliable vehicle


 


Skills & Experience:



  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Junior Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry 

  • Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience using CCS Candy.

  • Strong understanding of construction costs and contracts

  • Proficient in MS Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

  • Knowledge of JDE or similar costing systems will be an advantage.
