Our global Buildings and Places business line brings together a versatile and collaborative team of Quantity Surveyors, Cost Managers and Estimators within the broader business of urban planning, building design and engineering professionals. Collectively, we are all working to create liveable, sustainable, and equitable cities. Our extensive expertise cover urbanism and planning, architecture, building and systems engineering, and cost, project, and construction management.

AECOM’s Cost Management team has an opportunity in Southeast QLD for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager to join our successful team based in Brisbane. The role will predominantly be working on vertical infrastructure projects with opportunity to expand and diversify into other sectors. This role would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager looking to continue to grow their career working on a variety of projects.

A typical day in the role:
 

• Lead and oversee cost management and quantity surveying services for large-scale projects throughout Queensland, with a focus on Health, Education, Sports, Justice and Community Infrastructure
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams ensuring delivery excellence
• Manage all aspects of project cost planning from early feasibility through to delivery, including cost estimating, value engineering, risk assessment, whole-of-life costing, and capital expenditure advice
• Build strong and trusted relationships with clients, offering strategic commercial advice and guiding key decision-making across project lifecycles
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams locally and nationally to deliver integrated, value-driven solutions
• Represent AECOM within the industry, contribute to business development, and support the leadership team in winning new work and expanding our client base.

What are we looking for from you?

• Ideally, 10+ years’ post-graduate experience in quantity surveying, cost management, or estimating, with a strong record of delivering complex infrastructure projects (including TMR and civil infrastructure such as roads, bridges, dams, pipelines, and transport hubs)
• Proven leadership in client-facing roles, with excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Deep understanding of Australian construction contracts, procurement strategies, and industry standards
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Engineering, ideally with AIQS or RICS accreditation
• Advanced proficiency in Expert Estimation with familiarity in Microsoft Project P6, CostX, Pronamics and @Risk highly advantageous
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring and developing junior staff and contributing to business growth through client engagement and proposal development.
