Project Quantity Surveyor (Data Centres)

Our client, a leading company in the telecommunications industry based in Johannesburg is looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor with Data Centre experience. 

The Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of data centre projects. The role ensures that projects are budgeted correctly and completed within budget. The Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to optimise cost efficiency while maintaining quality and performance standards. 

• Cost Management & Budgeting
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for data centre projects 
  • Monitor project costs and ensure alignment with approval budgets.
• Contract Administration
  • Assist with drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts with contractors, suppliers, and consultants with the legal team
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract variations and claims.
• Procurement
  • Oversee procurement processes, including tendering and supplier selection with the procurement team
• Valuations and Payment
  • Prepare and assess interim payment applications
• Risk Management
  • Identify potential cost and contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies
• Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, procurement, legal and other stakeholders to align financial objectives with technical and operational goals
• Reporting
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, including cash flow analyses, cost-to-complete foerecasts, and value engineering assessments

• Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
• 5 years' experience in quantity surveying, with 2 years in data centres, high-tech infrastructure, or similar environments
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, JBCC) and procurement processes
