Introduction

This is a full-time role for a Quantity Surveyor working for a construction company in London Area, United Kingdom. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost control, BOQ, cost management, cost planning, and cost reporting on construction projects, ensuring financial efficiency and accuracy in project budgets.


Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities



  • Cost Estimation: Calculate the costs of construction projects, including materials and labour.

  • Budget Management: Create and manage project budgets to keep costs under control.

  • Tendering: Prepare documents for bidding, review contractor bids, and help choose the best one.

  • Contract Administration: Manage contracts between clients and builders, ensuring all legal requirements are met.

  • Site Measurement: Visit construction sites to measure work done and check quantities for payments.

  • Value Engineering: Find cost-effective solutions in project designs without sacrificing quality.

  • Financial Reporting: Provide regular updates on project costs and budgets to clients and stakeholders.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential problems and create plans to address them.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals for project success.

  • Dispute Resolution: Help resolve any disagreements about costs or contracts.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work follows local laws and building codes.

  • Sustainability Considerations: Look for and use environmentally friendly practices and materials in projects.


Desired Experience & Qualification

Requirements



  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Quantity Surveying

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field

  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes

  • Proficiency in relevant software like CCS, Candy, or similar

  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines


 


Qualifications



  • Cost Control, Cost Management, and Cost Reporting skills

  • Experience in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ)

  • Proficiency in Cost Planning

  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work well in a team and independently

  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field


Package & Remuneration

Salary: R 40,000 – R 50,000 per month (depending on experience)

Daily working hours will be 09h00 to 18h00 (including 60 minutes for lunch break) Monday to Friday.


A total of 40 working hours per week. Based in Durban North.
