Description

BGIS is looking for a Quantity Surveyor with residential construction experience to support nationwide projects across New Zealand. You will play a key role in delivering projects that directly improve homes and communities, working alongside project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing global organisation involved in meaningful infrastructure and housing work.

About the Role

Reporting to the Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, managing variations, supporting tender processes, and providing financial oversight across multiple projects.

Projects typically range between $200k – $1M, primarily within residential and refurbishment environments.

The role can be based in Wellington or Palmerston North, with flexible working arrangements and occasional travel required.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure, scope, and prepare tender documentation from design drawings
• Prepare cost estimates and financial project reports
• Manage project variations and claims
• Review subcontractor pricing and procurement documentation
• Conduct site visits and scoping inspections
• Work closely with Project Managers, architects, and contractors
• Support project delivery through accurate financial tracking and reporting

About You

We are looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoys working collaboratively in project environments.

You will ideally have:

• At least 2 years experience in building, construction, or property services
• Experience preparing cost plans, tenders, or estimates
• Exposure to residential builds, refurbishments, or fit-outs
• Strong financial and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects
• Excellent communication and organisational skills

Qualifications

• Certificate in Quantity Surveying (or similar)
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar – advantageous
