Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

Overview:

Our client is a globally recognised international infrastructure contractor delivering complex transportation and civil engineering projects across Europe. With a strong track record in highways, rail, tunnelling, and large-scale public infrastructure, the organisation is currently strengthening its commercial capability across active projects in Romania.

As part of ongoing motorway and railway delivery programmes, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in supporting cost control, contract administration, and subcontract management across live site environments. This appointment will contribute directly to maintaining commercial discipline, safeguarding contractual position, and supporting effective project delivery.

The Opportunity:

An opportunity exists for an experienced Contractor-side Quantity Surveyor to join major civil infrastructure works based in Romania, covering motorway packages in Pitești and railway works across Curtici and Timișoara.

The role will be site-based and embedded within the project commercial team, supporting the full commercial lifecycle from interim applications through to subcontract account management and claims support. You will play a key role in ensuring robust contract administration, maintaining accurate cost control, and supporting project leadership in protecting contractual entitlement.

The position is open on either a permanent or contract basis, depending on candidate preference and experience.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage interim valuations and payment applications in accordance with contract requirements
  • Undertake measurement, BoQ management, and remeasurement activities where applicable
  • Support cost reporting, forecasting, and commercial performance tracking
  • Administer contractual notices, variations, instructions, and formal correspondence
  • Manage subcontract procurement processes and downstream commercial administration
  • Assess and agree subcontract valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Support claims preparation and entitlement reviews through accurate record keeping and evidence collation
  • Maintain structured commercial documentation to protect contractual position
  • Work closely with site management, planning, engineering, and commercial leadership to ensure alignment
  • Contribute to proactive risk identification and mitigation across project delivery

Your Profile:

  • University degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
  • Strong background in major civil infrastructure projects (motorways, rail, heavy civils, or similar)
  • Demonstrable experience in interim valuations, payment applications, subcontract management, and contract administration
  • Experience supporting claims and variation processes within live project environments
  • Willingness to be site-based across project locations in Romania
  • Fluency in Romanian (written and spoken) is essential, as contractual documentation is administered in Romanian

Our client is an established and financially stable infrastructure organisation delivering strategically important transportation projects. They operate within structured international project environments and promote strong governance, collaboration, and long-term project delivery capability.

Joining this organisation offers the opportunity to contribute directly to nationally significant infrastructure works while operating within an experienced and professional project team. They offer competitive remuneration aligned to experience, alongside the opportunity to work on technically challenging civil engineering programmes.
