Duties & Responsibilities

Job Position: Quantity Surveyor

Ref: 5123

Location: Mthatha / surrounding areas

Salary: Commensurate with qualification and experience + accommodation on a single status arrangement (shared bathroom and communal areas), subsistence allowance whilst staying away from home, travel arrangements for 1 x trip home per month

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Active and valid registration with the SACPCMP council
  • Experience from a contractor environment (NOT consulting or civils)
  • Tertiary Degree/Diploma
  • Professional registration: SA Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession and/or ASAQS/MBA
  • 5 years + technical experience
  • Prepared to travel to and from site and endure heavy work-load and long hours
  • Computer literate
  • Managing performance, mentoring skills, team morale and effectiveness
  • Advise on legalities and common law requirements
  • Capital expenditure
  • Compilation of legal claims
  • Compilation of reports
  • Contract amendments and bulletins
  • Contracts understanding
  • Drafting of compliance notices and agreements
  • Leasing arrangements
  • Measurement skills
  • Risk analysis and management
  • Ensure a clear understanding of the customer requirements and provide astute alternatives as an expert advisor
  • Provide a best practice service and built sustainable relationships with key parties
  • Manage nominated, domestic and labour only sub-contract agreements and negotiate the best sub-contractors for the work
