The Opportunity
Soben, part of Accenture, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in either Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) or Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) disciplines to join our growing team in Luxembourg.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the commercial delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects across sectors including data centres, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, energy, and mission-critical facilities.
The successful candidate will provide both pre-contract and post-contract commercial support, delivering robust cost management, procurement, estimating, contract administration, and financial control services throughout the project lifecycle.
You will work alongside leading clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams, helping to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget while driving value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management & Commercial Delivery
- Deliver full pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying services across major construction and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare cost plans, estimates, budgets, and financial reports throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, variations, and forecasts to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Provide commercial advice to clients and project teams to support informed decision-making.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and develop mitigation strategies.
Procurement & Contract Management
- Support procurement and tendering activities, including tender analysis, evaluation, and recommendations.
- Prepare bills of quantities, contract documentation, and procurement reports.
- Administer contracts and manage change control processes.
- Review and evaluate contractor applications, variations, and final accounts.
- Manage commercial communications between project stakeholders.
MEP or CSA Cost Expertise
For MEP Candidates
- Analyse and evaluate costs associated with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialist building systems.
- Review MEP design development and assess commercial implications of design changes.
- Advise on procurement strategies and market trends associated with building services systems.
For CSA Candidates
- Analyse and evaluate costs associated with civil works, structural packages, architectural elements, and building fabric.
- Review CSA design development and assess cost impacts throughout project evolution.
- Support procurement and commercial management of enabling works, foundations, structure, façades, and architectural packages.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, designers, contractors, and supply chain partners.
- Participate in project meetings and provide commercial updates to stakeholders.
- Build strong client relationships and establish yourself as a trusted advisor.
- Support multidisciplinary project teams in achieving successful project outcomes.
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
- Support the development and enhancement of commercial best practices.
- Contribute to cost benchmarking and market intelligence databases.
- Share knowledge and lessons learned across project teams.
- Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and commercial professionals.
- Contribute to Soben's collaborative and high-performance culture.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5–10 years' experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, or cost management roles.
- Strong experience within either MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) or CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) construction disciplines.
- Proven experience delivering commercial services on major construction, infrastructure, industrial, pharmaceutical, data centre, or mission-critical projects.
- Strong understanding of procurement, contract administration, cost management, and change control processes.
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred
- Professional accreditation such as MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent.
- Experience working within a consultancy environment.
- Knowledge of Luxembourg and wider European construction markets.
- Experience working within NEC, FIDIC, or other international contract forms.
- Data centre, advanced manufacturing, energy, pharmaceutical, or infrastructure project experience.
- Fluency in English, with French and/or German language skills considered advantageous.
