Civils contractor engaged on multi-utility projects in London, encompassing new connections and utility diversions, requires a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial department.
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing financial and contractual aspects of utilities schemes.
The role:
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
- Negotiate and prepare contractual variations with clients
- Conduct feasibility studies and analyse project specifications
- Prepare tender documentation
- Dispute resolution
- Track project changes and log variations
- Assess subcontractor applications
- Perform quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities
- Monitor project costs, provide cost control measures, value works on site
- Review and evaluate contractor bids and proposals
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost-effective solutions
- Prepare monthly payment applications, CVRs, progress reports and financial statements
- Prepare Early Warning Notice and Compensation Events
- Maximise commercial opportunities for the company, whilst also minimising risks
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, within the utilities, highway or civil engineering sectors
- Experience of NEC3 and JCT forms of contract
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations
- Proficient in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in calculations
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
