Job Summary
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. The role requires extensive experience in cost planning, tendering, contract administration, and project cost control to ensure value for money and compliance with legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents.
- Conduct cost analysis and monitor project budgets against expenditures.
- Administer contracts including variations, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Evaluate subcontractor quotations and negotiate procurement terms.
- Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project efficiency.
- Track project progress and prepare financial reports, forecasts, and cost/value reconciliations.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual standards.
- Prepare and agree interim and final valuations and accounts.
- Mentor junior quantity surveyors and contribute to team development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 9 yearsβ experience in quantity surveying on major construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Proficient in cost management software (e.g., CostX, Candy, or similar).
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
