Summery 

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all cost and contract-related matters across the project lifecycle. This role ensures accurate cost assessment, effective commercial control, and timely reporting to support informed decision-making. The QS works closely with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to safeguard project cost efficiency and financial compliance.

Role & Responsibilities:

Cost Management & Assessment

~30% of total work time dedication

  • Prepared detailed cost estimates, cost plan and budget forecast for all project stages
  • Assess construction cost, variations and commercial implications of design/scope changes
  • Monitor expenditures against approved budgets and identify cost risk or overruns early

Procurement & Negotiation

~20% of total work time dedication

  • Perform tender analysis and evaluate contractor/supplier proposals
  • Facilitate commercial negotiations to secure competitive pricing and favorable contractual terms
  • Coordinate with legal and project teams to ensure contract alignment

Reporting & Financial Documentation

~20% of total work time dedication

  • Produce accurate and timely cost reports and financial status updates
  • Prepare cash flows, expenditure summary and contract status reports
  • Present and compile financial templates, dashboards and executive summaries for management

Cost Database & Benchmarking

~15% of total work time dedication

  • Compile, maintain and update an internal cost database for materials, labor benchmarking
  • Analyze market cost trends to improve predictability and procurement strategies
  • Develop and refine cost models for various development types

Contract Administration

~10% of total work time dedication

  • Manage valuation, variation orders, claims and final accounts
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and procurement policies
  • Liaise with consultants and contractors to validate cost-related submissions

Stakeholder Coordination

~5% of total work time dedication

  • Provide cost advise and value engineering options to project and design teams
  • Participate in project meetings and present financial insights
  • Ensure alignment across departments on budget priorities

Education & Experience

Education

  • Bachelors degree in quantity Surveyor or related fields

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience preferably with developer/client-side exposure
  • Strong understanding of construction cost, procurement and contracts
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and communication skills

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Detail-oriented with high a degree of accuracy in reporting and documentation
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to flag issues early
  • Proficient in cost software and Excel
