Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor (Iraqi local nationals only) this position, and work pattern is 4 weeks ON X 4 weeks OFF, we can only consider applications from local Iraqi nationals residing in Basra and surrounding areas.


The Project will restore, upgrade, and develop the current plant (CPF1) including: Restoration of initial CPF1 capacity; building a new export pipeline (24”, ~30km); restoration of CPF1 integrity and operability (dated 2008); flaring reduction by Q1/Q2 2026 and released water; development of new flowlines, pads, and electrification network for approximately 30 new wells; debottlenecking of the plant; upgrade of the Safety and Security facilities.Review and interpret project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and the types and quantities of materials required.



  • Review or Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on project requirements.

  • Monitor and control costs during project execution, including tracking variations and change orders.

  • Conduct regular site visits to measure and value the work done on-site, ensuring alignment with project specifications.

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing contractor/subcontractor agreements and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with project requirements.

  • Evaluate and approve subcontractor and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and alignment with agreed terms.

  • Collaborate closely with the planning engineer to align cost estimates with project schedules and timelines.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for the project.

  • Provide advice on contractual matters and assist in resolving contractual disputes or issues.

  • Identify and manage project risks, implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.

  • Assist in preparing and submitting progress reports and financial statements to project stakeholders.

  • Maintain and update project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and cost reports.

  • Support the planning engineer in developing and maintaining the project budget and schedule.

  • Participate in project meetings, providing cost and contract-related input as required.

  • Analyze and evaluate project performance against budget, identifying areas for cost-saving or efficiency improvements.

  • Assist in closing out projects, including finalizing accounts and preparing documentation for project handover.

  • Develop and implement best practices for cost estimation, control, and reporting.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project.

  • Support and enforce TTEEP GGIP guidelines and HSE objectives.

  • Participate Job Safety Analysis, stop dangerous situations, and report anomalies and dangerous acts.

  • Ensure operations complies with local regulation and TEEP GGIP policies.

  • Attend HSE meetings and training when necessary.

  • Enforce Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with significant experience in quantity surveying or cost control.

  • Strong understanding of project cost management principles and practices.

  • Proactive and team-oriented approach with the ability to work collaboratively across complex project teams.

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, Strong attention to detail and accuracy, Effective communication, and interpersonal skills, Proficient in cost estimation and project management software, Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
