Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their building construction team in the Western Cape. This opportunity is suited to a commercially focused QS with strong exposure to construction projects and a practical understanding of cost management, measurement and contractual processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage commercial and quantity surveying functions across building projects.
- Prepare and review Bills of Quantities, measurements and cost estimates.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and expenditure.
- Prepare monthly valuations and payment certificates.
- Manage variations, claims and contractual adjustments.
- Review and assess subcontractor quotations, measurements and payment claims.
- Assist with procurement and subcontractor appointments.
- Monitor project financial performance and identify potential cost risks.
- Prepare commercial reports and maintain accurate project records.
- Assist with tender pricing and analysis.
- Review drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
- Assist with final accounts and project close-out.
Requirements:
- Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification.
- Previous experience within the building construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction measurement and cost control.
- Experience with valuations, variations and subcontractor management.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Good communication and negotiation abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
