Quantity Surveyor

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for civil, mechanical, and structural works.
  • Monitor project costs and maintain accurate cost reports throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Evaluate contractor and subcontractor claims, variations, and payment certificates.
  • Prepare monthly valuations, progress reports, and cost forecasts.
  • Assist in tender preparation, bid evaluations, and procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor project budgets and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Negotiate prices, variations, and final accounts with contractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain proper commercial records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable contract conditions, company procedures, and industry standards.
  • Work closely with engineering, project management, procurement, and site teams to support project delivery.
  • Prepare and finalize project close-out documentation, including final accounts.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of quantity surveying principles and construction contracts.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract (FIDIC, NEC, GCC, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with quantity surveying and cost management software will be an advantage.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
  • Demonstrated experience in civil, mechanical, and structural construction projects.
  • Experience with industrial, mining, infrastructure, or large construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience managing project costs, contract administration, and final accounts.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional registration with the relevant Quantity Surveying body will be an advantage.
