Our client is seeking a highly experienced, detail-driven, and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer to join their team. This role is not the typical QS position limited to consultant-style BoQs or measuring against drawings. Instead, it requires someone who can combine technical understanding, commercial acumen, and practical execution in the field of bulk materials handling systems and equipment.
Analyse and interpret complex tender documentation and project requirements.
Develop comprehensive scoping schedules to define deliverables, standards, specifications, and boundaries before pricing.
Accurately price turnkey bulk materials handling systems and equipment.
Deliver transparent, logical, and defendable cost models that can be validated internally.
Work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on scope, assumptions, and deliverables.
Support procurement and supplier negotiations with cost insights and benchmarks.
Manage pricing and costing using Excel-based models (no QS-specific software).
Proven background in bulk materials handling projects (conveyors, silos, chutes, stackers, reclaimers, hoppers, process plants).
Strong commercial and technical understanding of costing and project delivery.
Ability to balance detail with big-picture execution in a dynamic environment.
High levels of energy, integrity, and intelligence.
Advanced Excel skills with experience in building defendable costing models.
Qualifications are beneficial but not a pre-requisite – capability and delivery matter most.
