Introduction

Our client are looking for a QS to manage project cost control, contract measurement, valuations, and commercial administration across Eskom-related Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Procurement and Construction (PC) projects, including substations, transformers, and transmission line infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cost Control & Financial Reporting: Prepare and manage comprehensive cost reports, valuations, financial forecasts, and payment assessments. Support project controls, budgeting, and overall commercial reporting.

  • Variations & Contract Administration: Administer variations, process compensation events, and assemble supporting documentation for contractual claims.

  • Measurement & Verification: Measure executed works on-site/drawings and rigorously verify contractor and subcontractor applications for payment.

  • Commercial Compliance: Work closely with project management and contracts teams to maintain commercial compliance, manage financial risks, and ensure full cost visibility across project life cycles.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent qualification).

  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience within infrastructure projects, specifically focused on substations, transformers, or transmission lines.

  • Professional Registration:

    • Registration with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) as a PrQS is preferred (and required where contractually specified).

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong expertise in cost control, payment certification, variations, and commercial administration within EPC/PC and Eskom contractual environments.
