We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join a leading utilities organisation, based in Kent.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be engaged on civils projects within the utilities sector, including telecoms, gas, water, or HV. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and possess strong analytical and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities:
– Conducting cost estimates and quantity take-offs for civils projects within the utilities sector.
– Collaborating with project managers to develop project budgets and schedules.
– Reviewing contract documents to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulations.
– Managing procurement activities by obtaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
– Evaluating tender submissions and negotiating contracts with vendors.
– Monitoring project costs throughout the lifecycle of each project.
– Preparing regular progress reports on financial performance and forecasting potential risks or delays.
– Assisting in dispute resolution by providing expert analysis on cost variations or claims.
Skills:
– Strong understanding of quantity surveying principles and practices within the utilities industry.
– Proficient in using relevant software applications for estimating costs (e.g., CostX).
– Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
– Effective negotiation abilities when dealing with vendors or subcontractors.
– Solid understanding of construction contracts and relevant legislation.
Qualifications:
-Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the utilities industry (telecoms, gas, water, or HV).
-Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field preferred but not mandatory.
