Introduction

To manage all costs related to construction projects, from initial calculations to final figures. The role will require a strong understanding of commercial processes, contract management, and cost control principles to ensure value for money while achieving required standards and quality.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Pre-Contract Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and pricing schedules.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost planning, and budgeting.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and procurement strategy development.

 

2. Post-Contract Duties:

  • Monitor project budgets and control cost expenditures throughout the lifecycle.
  • Prepare monthly valuations, progress claims, and final accounts.
  • Assess and value variations, change orders, and claims.
  • Administer contract documentation in accordance with FIDIC or NEC contracts.
  • Conduct risk analysis and advise on procurement and financial implications.
  • Liaise with project teams, engineers, and clients to manage financial performance.

 

3. Reporting and Compliance:

  • Compile and present cost reports and forecasts to management and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • BSc/BTech in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
  • Must have a SACPCMP registration or candidacy
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction environment.
  • Experience in powerline, electrical infrastructure, or utility-scale projects is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract.
  • Proven experience in cost control, contract administration, and claims management.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote project sites.
  • Knowledge of SHEQ standards and compliance in infrastructure environments.
  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
  • Proficiency in QS software (e.g., CCS Candy, BuildSmart, or similar).
  • Advanced MS Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • High attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Package & Remuneration

R 500 000 - 600 000 Per Annum
