Introduction

Role Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for cost control, contract administration, procurement support, and financial management of electrical engineering projects. This role requires strong technical and commercial expertise within engineering or construction environments.

The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on budget and in accordance with contractual requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial and financial aspects of electrical engineering projects

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation

  • Evaluate contractor and supplier tenders and quotations

  • Monitor project costs, variations, and financial performance

  • Prepare valuations, payment certificates, and progress claims

  • Manage contract administration in line with NEC, FIDIC, or similar contracts

  • Conduct cost forecasting and financial reporting

  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities

  • Assist with procurement and subcontractor management

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry standards

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field

  • Professional registration with SACQSP (South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession)

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor

  • Experience working on electrical, engineering, or construction projects

  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and project costing

  • Experience with NEC, FIDIC, or JBCC contracts

  • Strong financial and analytical skills

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience working on electrical infrastructure or industrial engineering projects

  • Experience with large EPC or construction projects

  • Knowledge of project management systems and cost control software
