Quantity Surveyor / Senior Estimator (Remote – South Africa)

Join a specialist contractor to price high-quality commercial tiling and natural stone projects across London.

Remote (South Africa), UK working hours Monday to Friday 8 am -5 pm

Salary: R35 000 - R55 000 p/m.

The Role: Quantity Surveyor / Senior Estimator (Remote – South Africa)

The purpose of this role is to provide detailed and accurate pricing for tiling and stone packages from substrate preparation through to final installation. The role contributes to the business by ensuring commercial awareness, reducing project risk through accurate scope management, and helping the business secure larger, higher-quality projects. The main focus areas include reviewing tender documents, taking off quantities, and understanding specific build-ups such as tanking and movement joints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize a strong background in tiling and/or natural stone from previous estimating, site management, or hands-on experience.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand project requirements.

  • Take off quantities including square metres, linear metres, and specific details.

  • Price full tiling and stone packages covering labour and materials where required.

  • Prepare clear and structured quotations for commercial clients.

  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain material pricing.

  • Support project delivery teams with cost awareness and realistic pricing.

  • Identify and understand build-ups, including tanking, Ditra, cement boards, and movement joints.

About You

  • Strong background in tiling and/or natural stone is a non-negotiable requirement.

  • Experience in estimating, specifically in the tiling and stone trade, site management, or previous hands-on experience as a tiler.

  • Knowledge of preparation stages, installation methods, and real production rates.

  • Understanding of UK-based projects and standards.

  • Detail-focused with the ability to take ownership of tasks.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally without an accent.

  • Capability to work UK hours (Monday to Friday, 8-5 pm).

  • Experience with high-value commercial projects is preferred.
