Introduction

A specialist engineering contractor delivering solutions across Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Industrial and Advanced Manufacturing sectors throughout Europe is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor.

This is a senior commercial role requiring an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor capable of managing all commercial aspects of mechanical packages from project award through to final account. Working closely with Project Managers, Design Engineers and Procurement teams, you will provide commercial leadership, protect project profitability and mentor junior members of the Commercial
team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
• Take full commercial responsibility for Mechanical Building Services packages.
• Prepare project budgets, cost plans and commercial forecasts.
• Monitor project costs and report on financial performance.
• Prepare interim valuations and client payment applications.
• Procure Mechanical subcontract packages, evaluate tenders and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Administer subcontract accounts, prepare/assess/negotiate variations and produce monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
• Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Support Project Managers with commercial advice, attend meetings and negotiate final accounts.
• Mentor and support Junior Quantity Surveyors and drive continuous improvement within commercial processes.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Essential Requirements
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years' Quantity Surveying experience.
• Strong Mechanical Building Services background with proven experience on large-scale engineering or construction projects.
• Excellent understanding of HVAC, chilled water, pipework, plantrooms and mechanical infrastructure.
• Strong contract administration experience, excellent commercial awareness and advanced negotiation skills.
• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Desirable Experience
• Data Centre projects.
• Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences projects.
• NEC, FIDIC or JCT contracts.
• CostX or similar commercial software.
