Enable Infrastructure are looking for a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager to join our team in London.  This is an exciting time to join the business during a time of transition into new markets including power, battery storage, drainage and water sector led schemes in addition to our current rail offering.  

 

Being part of an SME will enable you to gain full exposure to how a construction business operates interfacing with our pre-construction, procurement, delivery, resourcing, hire and other departments.  Training development is bespoke tailoring it to your development plan. 

 

There will be the opportunity to manage your own and build your own team as the business grows and develops further. Current projects include railway substation schemes, battery energy storage system (BESS) multidisciplinary design, eHGV charging schemes and various utility and ancillary civil designs. 

 

The Pre-Construction Quantity Surveyor will represent the commercial function during the preconstruction phase of our projects. The role will involve the commercial management of an exciting and diverse pipeline of work in accordance with the company’s tender processes, through tender governance and settlement until handover to the delivery team of the successful tender. The role is integral to the effective bidding of work and in laying the strongest foundation for securing low risk and profitable projects for the organisation as well as enhancing our reputation with our clients and in the industry.

 

This position will undertake contract reviews, develop commercial tender bid strategy, route to margin and reporting, with some Estimating and estimating strategy. The role will be embedded within the pre-construction team, although will also get involved in some pricing for live projects. 6-12 months experience within specific preconstruction role would be beneficial, but not mandatory.

 

Experience 

  • Experience with NEC 3 and 4 suites of contract is necessary, whilst knowledge of JCT, ICE, CECA and NR forms of contract would also be desired. 
  • Hands on experience and the knowledge of the operation of infrastructure and power-based projects is highly desired. 
  • Proven successful experience in a role which includes estimating and development of tender commercial strategies. 

Qualifications

  • Formal qualification, ideally at degree level or above, in a relevant commercial/construction subject. 
  • A member of or working towards an appropriate professional qualification/membership is also expected (RICS/CICES/ CIOB). 

Technical skills 

  • Good knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and industry standards. 
  • Strong and on-time reporting skills with accuracy, to inform estimating strategy. 
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Causeway and SharePoint is beneficial. 

Additional skills 

  • Confident interfacing with colleagues, senior management, and the executives. 
  • Comfortable leading and working as part of a team. 
  • Diplomatic, organised and well-presented when dealing with suppliers/subcontractors and potential clients. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
