Introduction

Quantity Surveyor

Our construction client is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Johannesburg.

 

Job Purpose

To manage and analyse the costs of building projects. This includes preparing cost analyses based on architectural drawings, engineering estimates, required materials, and labour.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish cost-control methods with the Contract Manager
  • Liaise with the client’s QS representative, subcontractors and suppliers; prepare and agree on value variations
  • Prepare valuations and issue interim certificates to ensure timely payments
  • Place subcontract orders in accordance with procurement schedules
  • Monitor and update contract turnover and cash flow forecasts
  • Cross-check material deliveries against site measurements
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
  • Organise and plan valuation schedules with the client QS
  • Organise and plan valuation schedules with appointed subcontractors
  • Subcontractor certificate submission dates as defined by Financial Manager
  • Client certificate valuation dates as per the Contract document
  • Minimal supervision

 

Working Conditions

  • 40% office (site office) environment
  • 60% construction site environment (dusty and noisy)

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Grade 12
  • Drivers licence and own vehicle
  • Degree or Diploma in Construction Management / Quantity Surveying
  • BuildSmart and CCS (non neg)
  • 2-4 years experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor ( not including work experience/ internship)
  • 7-10 years experience in construction
