Job Description

Our client is one of the largest construction companies within the UK with internationally-renowned experience in the successful delivery of technically demanding, multi-disciplinary and logistically complex projects.

To support their growing business they are currently looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in the Central Belt of Scotland with significant build/construction experience.

Experience of projects in the range of £1 million to £40 million is desirable but of more importance is solid knowledge and experience of the various forms of contract e.g. NEC, JCT, FIDIC

You will take the project lead and provide commercial expertise in the delivery of the contract.

The role

As the Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be involved in managing the commercial reports and advice to the management team, ensuring the commercial targets are achieved including project and programme cost, quality and time.

Carry out tasks as instructed by various members of the Commercial/Quantity surveying team, such as measurement for valuations

Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with standard company HSE procedures and work instructions

Assist in the management and maintenance of the contract cost reporting system as directed by the line manager

Prepare cash flows for payments in and out

Assist in the preparation of accurate forecasts of project cost to completion and final value

Assist with sub-contract tender process and support the preparation of sub-contract documentation

Prepare payment certificates for sub-contract work

Assist with the preparation of interim applications for payment

Assist with the valuation of variations

Assist with the preparation of valuations and claims, ensuring that they are supported by relevant records

Assist in the preparation of accurate monthly reporting of cost and value on the project(s) in line with the Company’s reporting process

Identify potential risk and opportunities and escalate these as appropriate

You will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the commercial plan are completed and will produce contract month end statements and performance reports, as well as feeding commercial project information back to the client.


Key Requirements -

·Proven track record of delivering high value construction projects ideally in the Build sector.

·Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline.

·Qualified or working towards, MRICS / MCIOB / MICES.

·Comfortable interfacing with Senior Management and Stakeholders.

·Excellent analytical skills to make informed, balanced business decision and reporting findings to Clients and Stakeholders.
