THE ROLE

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager you will be joining a growing team; working closely with all levels of the business to delivery cost estimating and management services to our clients, architects and developers. This position will be a client facing role initially focused on CRE/TI fit out projects, whereby you will be engaging directly with our clients, architects, consultants and construction managers, working collaboratively to build strong lasting relationships. As a senior team member, you'll undertake multiple complex work assignments, delivering within time-frames and managing your project-based team-mates to provide outstanding professional services to our clients, whilst pitching in to support the leadership team in being effective and efficient at delivering incredible outcomes for the business in the region.


Candidates for our Boston or New York City offices are preferred.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, manage, undertaken and/or deliver

  • Cost planning advice at the conception stage using historical data and project parameters
  • Cost estimates and peer reviews at all stages from SD to CD 
  • Value-engineering discussions to add value to projects and from time to time participate in value engineering workshops
  • Risk management, plus regular reviews and updates of the risk register
  • Cost advice exercises and optional appraisals as required to enable informed decision making to achieve successful projects
  • Procurement advice and strategies tailored to the project conditions, to best meet the client’s needs and requirements
  • Bid process including RFP preparation, bid levelling and recommendation, plus providing commentary of contractual documentations
  • GMP and lumps sum contract reviews, negotiations and/or agreements with CM’s and GC’s
  • Monthly financial cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow analysis
  • Change order management, including entitlement review, measurement, negotiations and recommendation as per the contractual documents and the clients’ approved process
  • Payment requisitions, soft costs invoices, plus liaising with the client’s accounting team
  • Attend and participate in meetings, plus chair meetings as required 
  • Final account and financial close out in accordance with the contractual requirements


Other tasks

  • Assist with RFQ responses, RFP bid preparation and attend project interviews 
  • Collect and provide project benchmarking data
  • Understanding industry trends and developments to facility accurate cost and industry advice to our clients, architects and partners
  • Communicate effective verbally and written to delivery accurate cost advice
  • Demonstrate time management skills to plan manage and delivery tasks in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate a professional manner when representing WT and liaison with all internal and external clients, stakeholders to develop a positive and collaborative working relationship
  • Identify opportunities to develop new business / relationships with existing or new clients 
  • Support, mentor and supervise other team members as required and ensure the efficient and organized working of team members
  • Support other offices, projects and/or services stream in the preparation of cost related or general task as required from time to time
  • Assist in fostering a continuous learning environment through provision of staff training, thought leadership and mentoring
  • Encourage staff suggestions and feedback on current practice
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary
  • Ensure the implementation of WT Partnership policies
  • Initiate and lead the development of WT Partnership policies and practices


  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent relevant degree
  • A minimum of 6 years’ technical experience delivering medium and large projects, including CRE / TI Fit out projects
  • Pre and post contract experience
  • US citizenship and/or existing/transferable right to work in US
  • COVID-19 vaccination required by existing clients


PREFERRED

  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Accreditation (MRICS), or equivalent preferred
  • Experience using CostX, OST, Revit, BIM
